Breaking new ground. And digging deep.
The Virginia Turfgrass Foundation was established in 1988 to collect and distribute funds for the innovative and essential research of turfgrass. The VTF works exclusively with the Virginia Tech Turfgrass Team at designated university research facilities throughout the state to develop and test new grasses. This also includes a wide variety of innovative management strategies, and the evaluation of the latest releases in chemistry, technology, and equipment. Because the VTF is a non-profit organization, all donations are tax-deductible. Your contribution will have a direct impact on the grass you see and interact with every day, and so much more.
Healthy turfgrass makes a measurable and a meaningful difference in our daily lives. Healthy grass releases oxygen, cools the air, prevents erosion, and helps control pollution by filtering both air and water. Unlike artificial turf, properly managed turfgrass can help athletic performance while also decreasing the risk of injury. Turfgrasses are logical green spaces for social gatherings whether it be for a garden party, a picnic, or a backyard game of badminton. This living carpet creates more aesthetically pleasing lawns, improves living conditions, increases property values, serves as a basis for recreation by way of golf courses and sports fields, and is a major (and often overlooked) economic driver.
You can help us grow.
As you can see, turfgrass has a great effect on us all. We encourage you to join us in our quest to help greatness take root. With your donation, no matter how large or how small, we will make a difference here in the Commonwealth and beyond. We will make a difference in people’s lives, starting with yours.
